This Pumper / Tanker was built by Emmet Firemen
Under the administration of the Honorable Mayor Otis Townsend and the 1975 City Council, The Emmet All-Volunteer Fire Department was created.
The Council appointed Mr. Bobby Harden to be Emmet's first Fire Chief.
Next, the City of Emmet purchased a used 1952 Ford Fire Truck was purchased from the City of Judsonia, AR.
Yes, this was an old truck but in excellent condition. It had less than 2000 miles on it.
An addition to the City Hall was built to house the newly purchased fire truck.
Under Chief Bobby Harden, a campaign to recruit and train new firefighters was started. A large number of very concerned residents of Emmet came out to join and help the newly created Emmet Fire Department.
From there, the Emmet Volunteer Fire Department started to grow.
The next purchase was a military 6x6. The Emmet Firemen built this truck into the second pumper truck. This truck had a 1000 gal tank with a 350 GPM pump.
At the time, this was the only fire truck in Nevada County that would respond to fires throughout the county.
Under the Honorable Mayor Ottis Otwell, a used 1972 Ford F950 Pumper with a 1000 gal tank and a 750 GPM pumper was purchased.
After the purchase of the Ford F950, the 1952 Ford truck was retired.
Bobby Harden served as Fire Chief for years 10 and continued in different capacities for an additional 15 years.
The Honorable Mayor, Dale Booker, and the city council appointed Frank Faulkner to become Emmet's new Fire Chief.
A 1972 F750 Ford Chassis was purchased from The ArkLa Gas Co and converted into a pumper.
This 1972 Ford pumper truck with a 1000 gal tank and a 350 GPM pump was built by the firemen to replace the old pumper.
This truck chassis was later replaced with a 750 Ford converted to a tandem axle unit, and the tank and pump from the 6x6 were mounted on this new unit.
This 750 Ford chassis was later replaced with a Mack chassis.
At the retirement of Chief Frank Faulkner, a new chief was appointed by the city council. The new Chief was Grant Cox.
In 2018 the city purchased a 2000 IH tandem chassis and placed a 2500 gal aluminum tank and the 500 GPM pump from the first 1952 Ford pumper.
In 2016 a $42,000.00 Grant helped purchase all of the required equipment for all (3) pumper units.
Today in 2021, the ALL Volunteer Fire Department is as strong as it has ever been.
Today in 2021, the department has the second fire station. It is a (3) bay station.
